Plans revealed for Manchester’s Albert Bridge House redev
Oval Real Estate has unveiled plans to redevelop the Albert Bridge House site, on Manchester’s Bridge Street, into an office and residential scheme.
The site currently comprises the 18-storey office building, occupied by HMRC which is vacating later this year, as well as the adjacent Bridge Street car park.
Designed by Studio Egret West, the new project will provide 350,000 sq ft of flexible workspace, featuring a radical stepped design with a cascade of green terraces and rooftop spaces.

At the southern end of the site, Oval plans to construct a build-to-rent tower of up to 45-storeys, which would provide 367 new homes. The ground floor would offer spaces for shops, cafés and restaurants.
James Craig, founding partner of Oval, said: “We’re confident these architecturally leading new buildings will add something completely different to the Manchester skyline and create a welcoming and sustainable new destination for the city.
“As a business, we specialise in bringing overlooked spaces back into the limelight, and that is exactly what we aim to do here. Our plans look to revitalise the site’s riverfront setting and create exceptional new public realm to be enjoyed by new and existing members of the community.”
