The Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill could be rebranded as a “Growth Bill” as the new prime minister sets about reshaping policy.
Business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg has put the government’s Energy Security Bill on hold, telling officials that the bill may be scrapped to reflect new priorities.
It is thought that elements of the Bill, such as reforms to the electricity and gas networks and financing models for carbon capture and hydrogen production, could instead be inserted into the already overweight Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill.
