Berkeley eyes £600m profit as demand continues

Berkeley Group is on track to deliver a £600m pretax profit over the year to 30 April 2023, and to lift that figure to £625m a year later.

In a trading update covering the period from 1 May to 31 August, the housebuilder said it had “continued to trade well” during the first four months of the new financial year, adding that “the good level of demand continues to support pricing above business plan levels”.

The company said the resilience of the sales market and second-half weighting of revenue and profit meant forward sales should be “marginally above” the £2.17bn held at 30 April this year, with net cash similar to the £269m held at the most recent financial year-end.
