IWG names new chief financial officer as Hughes steps down

IWG has named a replacement for Glyn Hughes, who is stepping down as chief financial officer. Charlie Steel, current chief financial officer of New York-listed digital health delivery and AI diagnosis business Babylon Holdings, will join the IWG board before the end of the year. Steel said he was “very excited” to be joining IWG, which he described as “a fantastic business in a dynamic and exciting sector that is at the forefront of the rapidly evolving way we all live and work”. Prior to Babylon, Steel was global head of corporate development at CMC Markets and was also VP in Deutsche Bank’s investment banking division. IWG chair Douglas Sutherland said: “Steel brings highly relevant experience that will prove tremendously useful to IWG and we look forward to working with him as we continue to enhance our digital platform and capital light model supporting accelerated growth.” Hughes is taking up a chief executive role in a non-listed company. He was promoted to chief financial officer at IWG in March 2021, replacing Eric Hageman. IWG chief executive Mark Dixon said: “I would like to thank Glyn for his contribution to IWG as chief financial officer.
