Diageo set to toast new £73m Covent Garden microbrewery
Drinks giant Diageo is set to be granted planning permission from Westminster Council for a £73m mixed-use development at Old Brewer’s Yard, WC2.
The firm has proposed a collection of five buildings plus outdoor space centred around the Guinness brand in the form of a new 50,000 sq ft leisure and development destination.
Plans include a Guinness microbrewery, store, event space and restaurant. There will also be a public courtyard with outdoor food and drink area.

The firm has proposed a collection of five buildings plus outdoor space centred around the Guinness brand in the form of a new 50,000 sq ft leisure and development destination.
Plans include a Guinness microbrewery, store, event space and restaurant. There will also be a public courtyard with outdoor food and drink area.
The scheme will have space for 1,122 customers and is expected to create 150 new jobs. Subject to approval, development is set to be completed in autumn 2023.
The site will comprise a seven-storey building, plus terrace, with a bar, restaurant and roof terrace at 28-32 Shelton Street; a shop at 15A Neal Street; a basement for events with entrance from the yard at 5 Langley Street and a microbrewery with ancillary space and bar at 1 Mercer Walk.
