Public relations, management consultancy and accountancy firms in Britain have been banned from providing services to Russian companies after the invasion of Ukraine.
Liz Truss, the foreign secretary, said the ban would cut off Russia’s access to British services. It does not include lawyers, but ministers are understood to be keeping this under review. Several high-profile law firms have been criticised for their past records of representing Russian oligarchs.
UK businesses can still advise Russians who are based in Britain, provided that they are not on the sanctions list. The ban will require secondary legislation and should be in place within six to eight weeks.
