Springfield seeks 1,000-home consent
Springfield Properties has lodged plans to build 1,000 homes in a new neighbourhood in Midlothian, Scotland.
The housebuilder is seeking consent for the development at Lingerwood, following a 20-minute neighbourhood model and complementing nearby schemes at Newtongrange and Mayfield.
The plans include open space and meadows, drawing inspiration from the area’s mining history. The homes will be low and zero-carbon, providing a variety of tenures.

Springfield was the first housebuilder in Scotland to partner with urban regeneration specialist Sigma Capital, to deliver family homes for private rent.
Martin Egan, chief operating officer at Springfield, said: “We believe our masterplan is a best-in-class example of the creation of a new sustainable neighbourhood, which brings its own identity while respecting and connecting well with existing popular and distinct settlements.”
Pending consent, Springfield aims to start on site in early 2023, with the first homes completed within nine to 12 months.
