The pandemic has given the property market in the North and Midlands a boost as a “race for space” makes the regions more desirable.
Three-quarters of the areas with the fastest-growing prices are outside the South for the first time since the 2007 financial crash, analysis by Halifax found.
The top 20 places for price growth include four from the North West (Rochdale, Widnes, Bolton and the Wirral), three from Yorkshire and the Humber (Bradford, Scunthorpe and Doncaster) and two from Scotland (Motherwell and Hamilton).
