Resi sales fall by half as stamp holiday ends

The number of homes sold in the UK fell by more than half last month.

HM Revenue & Customs said yesterday that there were 76,930 residential property transactions in October, 52% lower than in September and 28.2% lower than October 2020.

The expiry of the stamp duty tax break has been cited as the main reason for the fall.
