Stephen McNally will retire from Ireland’s Dalata Hotel Group early next year.
McNally has been the group’s deputy chief executive since 2007 and was one of the founders of the company.
The move comes as Dermot Crowley prepares to take over as group CEO.
Dalata is the largest hotel operator in Ireland and has a growing presence in the UK, with 45 hotels and 9,500 bedrooms in total.
Group chair John Hennessy said McNally was “a key figure in our leadership team for 14 years” and instrumental in Dalata’s growth and expansion into the UK.
Pat McCann, group CEO, added: “I have worked with Stephen for over 30 years initially in Jurys and later in Dalata where Stephen became one of the founding directors. Not only has he been a colleague over all those years, he is also my friend. Without him Dalata would be a much poorer place.
McNally said the decision had required “much careful thought and consideration”.
