First all-electric forecourt opens near Manchester

Motor Fuel Group has opened the UK’s first electric-only forecourt between Manchester and Chester. The Stretford site has eight ultra-rapid charging points, which can give enough juice in 10 minutes to last an average electric vehicle 100 miles. The company is owned by Clayton Dubilier & Rice, the US private equity firm that is in the middle of a bidding war over Morrisons. It has committed £400m to convert all of its fuel pumps at its 900 sites over time, with £40m being spent this year. MFG chose Stretford because of plans by Andy Burnham, the Manchester mayor, to double the size of the region’s vehicle-charging network. The Times (£)
