Former government chief planner and Southwark dev lead join OPDC

Sadiq Khan has appointed former government chief planner, Steve Quartermain, and Southwark’s development lead, Gary Rice, to the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation’s planning committee.

The pair will support the OPDC to deliver 25,000 homes and 56,000 jobs over the next two decades.

Quartermain was appointed chief planner for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in 2008. He held the role until 2020 and was also previously president of the Planning Officers Society. He holds a number of advisory roles, including working with charity MOBIE, the Academy of Urbanism, Women in Planning and the University of Kent.
