BPF launches mentoring scheme for junior professionals
The British Property Federation has launched a new mentoring initiative to connect less experienced real estate professionals with senior industry leaders.
BPF Futures Launchpad will be open to anyone in the property industry with less than a decade of sector experience.
The venture includes a mentoring programme, as well as a BPF Futures Policy Congress which will allow members to debate government policy and industry issues. There will also be a hackathon aimed at brainstorming inventive solutions for policy issues, as well as webinars and seminars.

BPF chief executive Melanie Leech said the programme “will provide young-in-career property professionals with enhanced learning opportunities, and a strong voice in our industry’s interactions with the government”.
She added: “It’s vital that Covid-19 recovery goes hand-in-hand with a renewed focus on equality and inclusion, and I hope our sector’s young-in-career professionals feel inspired to join BPF Futures Launchpad to contribute towards creating a more positive future for our industry, customers and communities.”
David Partridge, BPF president and senior partner at Argent, added: “If the property industry wants to succeed in ensuring our boardrooms become more diverse, we must become more sophisticated in our approach to nurturing talent… I urge as many of my peers as possible to encourage their junior members of staff to sign up and get involved.”
Launched in 2017, the BPF Future initiative now has more than 1,400 members, and this latest venture opens it in Scotland for the first time. It was established as a networking group for junior real estate professionals, and today has a seat on the BPF board, currently held by chair Harvin Chohan, a member of the central London occupier advisory team at CBRE.
“When BPF Futures launched, we never expected such a fantastic response and we’re delighted to introduce this next chapter in our journey,” Chohan said. “BPF Futures Launchpad will open the doors to the sort of activity that has been typically reserved for our industry’s most senior figures – this is an opportunity not to be missed.”
