Plans in for Selfridges owner’s co-living debut
The owner of Selfridges is driving ahead plans for its first co-living scheme with a 498-bed scheme at City Link House, in Croydon.
Last year, EG reported that Wittington Investments, the investment arm of the Weston family, had teamed up with operator Fifth State to develop a co-living scheme on the 0.5-acre site on Addiscombe Road.
Fifth State has formed a partnership with property management CRM to manage the shared living under the Fifth State brand.

Wittington has worked with architects Squire & Partners on plans for a £90m development in a building of 14 and 28 storeys.
The co-living portion offers furnished studios with an en-suite shoower room, work area and kitchenette. The average unit size is 22.1 sq m, with the majority between 20 and 23 sq m, but some larger options up to 30 sq m.
Proposals include 85 affordable flats, 6,500 sq ft of commercial space and public realm. There is co-working space, a gym and spa, yoga studio, cinema, lounge space and a roof terrace.
The site sits directly opposite East Croydon station, close to Tide Construction’s 817-bed co-living scheme on College Road.
The development is London’s largest co-living project and also the world’s tallest modular build, rising to 49 storeys. It was approved by Croydon in early 2020, but has yet to be signed off by the Greater London Authority at stage 2 referral.
