Briqs said it was working with ECDC and HB Reavis UK to add much-needed diversity of talent to the property sector, particularly from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
Candidates are selected for roles based on their skills and potential and not their educational background, with each young person given £1,500 to spend on a training and development programme of their choice.
ECDC will be recruiting young people from the two boroughs in which the Earls Court project sits – Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea – while HB Reavis UK will be recruiting from Islington with a view to the young person working as part of its new Bloom project in Farringdon.
Rob Heasman, chief executive of ECDC, said: “The Earls Court development is London’s largest and most exciting Zone 1 development, which brings with it significant opportunities to do things differently and, crucially, to do things better.
“We want to put the local community at the heart of the project and one of the best ways we can achieve this is by recruiting young local talent to join our growing team at ECDC. Working with Briqs enables us to find great talent locally and we are really excited to embrace that local knowledge and skills to deliver something the community can be proud of at Earls Court .”
HB Reavis UK chief executive Steven Skinner added: “I believe that the built environment sector must find a way to attract new talent, creating a greater diversity of people, backgrounds, experiences and ideas. HB Reavis UK is looking forward to working with Briqs to do exactly that.”
Jack Sallabank, co-founder of Briqs, said: “The built environment has talked for a number of years about a need to attract a greater diversity of talent to work in the sector but, unfortunately, we don’t think enough is being done to actually do that. Briqs is a solution which enables companies that are serious about finding new talent, from beyond the normal networks, to actually do it.”
