Developers pull £1bn Kensington Forum plans
Queensgate Investments and Rockwell have withdrawn controversial plans for the £1bn development of the Kensington Forum Hotel, SW7.
The change of mind follows approval from the Greater London Authority last year for a development of 749 hotel bedrooms, 340 serviced apartments and 62 affordable homes at the site of the former Holiday Inn.
It was the second approval from the GLA, following an ongoing battle with the Conservative-led London Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, which has sought to quash the scheme.
Kensington Forum Hotel was called in by housing secretary Robert Jenrick, with an inquiry set for 11 May.
Objectors argues the 30-storey development will cause severe harm to the surrounding conversation areas and multiple heritage assets.
Queensgate confirmed the planning application has now been withdrawn, some three years after the plans were initially lodged.
