Charity and social: Property networks come together to combat youth homelessness

LandAid has brought together 10 organisations from across the built environment sector in a new initiative to harness real estate networks to help end youth homelessness. The founding members of Networks Against Homelessness are: BAME in Property, Building Equality, Freehold, Ladies in Real Estate, London Property Alliance, Luxury Property Forum, Real Estate Balance, RE:Women, UKAA, Urban Land Institute and YEP. Data from charities Homeless Link and akt shows that youth homelessness disproportionately affects young people from minority backgrounds, with 27% of young people accessing their services coming from BAME communities and 24% identifying as LGBTQ+. Moved by this statistic and the risks young LGBTQ+ homeless people face, Freehold co-chair David Mann encouraged his organisation and other property networks to create Networks Against Homelessness and pledge to support LandAid’s mission to end youth homelessness. Paul Morish, chief executive of LandAid, said: “LandAid is proud to bring together such a diverse range of networks and membership organisations to unite behind our mission.
