Capital & Regional collects just half of rent

Shopping centre investor Capital & Regional has collected just 51% of rent due on 29 September, despite almost all shops being open and trading. It said 98% of the 614 stores at its seven shopping centres were currently open. Capital & Regional said the quarterly rental collection exceeded levels of 40% at the same point last quarter. The landlord has now collected 56% of all rents that have fallen due since 25 March. It is in discussions with retailers over the arrears and has been providing support to smaller, independent occupiers.
