REDD is also looking to use contactless fobs and voice recognition systems to provide apartment owners with access to both the main entrance and their apartments and make finishes and surfaces from anti-viral materials such as copper.
In addition, the firm is considering the installation of special air filtration systems to ensure the highest health and safety standards.
Construction work will start in the autumn with build completion scheduled for late 2021.
Fronting on to Mount Street and Balfour Place, the building was designed in 1891 by Eustace Balfour, the Grosvenor Estate’s architect-in-residence. It was once used as the international headquarters of oil tanker business London & Overseas Shipping Line.
Russell Smithers, managing director in London for REDD, said: “82 Mount Street is REDD’s first multi-unit boutique residential scheme in London and the first ‘Covid-compliant’ development to get planning consent in Mayfair since the UK lockdown ended, so we anticipate a lot of interest in the project.”
REDD is owned by the Monaco-based Marzocco family, which is one of the leading developers in the principality.
