Avanton and Urban & Provincial win planning for £130m Old Kent Road scheme
Developers Avanton and Urban & Provincial won planning approval from Southwark Council for a £130m redevelopment of a former Carpetright warehouse on Old Kent Road.
The scheme at 651 Old Kent Road, SE15, will deliver 262 homes, 40% of which will be affordable, and 20,000 sq ft of commercial space.
Designed by Farrells, the homes will be split across two towers rising in height from 10 to 19 storeys. The development will also create three large outdoor spaces.

The warehouse is vacant, and work is expected to begin in early 2021, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.
It is the third element of Avanton’s £795m regeneration masterplan for the area, designed to deliver more than 2,100 homes.
Omer Weinberger, chief executive of Avanton, said: “The design focuses on creating a sense of community and providing extensive outdoor space for residents to enjoy, which is proving more than ever to be a key priority for buyers.
“Old Kent Road is an excellent location that is truly accessible to many Londoners with most units qualifying for the government Help to Buy scheme, which makes the units attractive both to owner occupiers and long-term investors.”
Luke Osborne, director of Urban & Provincial, added: “Old Kent Road is undergoing an exciting £10.7bn regeneration with new homes, and workspace for up to 10,000 new jobs, commercial, retail and leisure facilities.”
