Stonegate Pub Company’s Nick Rockell dies

Stonegate Pub Company’s property director Nick Rockell died yesterday (31 May), aged 50.

Rockell led the property team through a number of successful acquisitions, including the purchase of rival Ei Group in March this year. The combined business now operates around 4,800 pubs in the UK.

He played a significant role in the company’s development since its formation in 2010 when its owner, private equity firm TDR Capital, bought 333 pubs from Mitchells & Butlers. Its estate includes branded bars Slug & Lettuce, Yates and Walkabout.
