Hotel operator Dalata eyes UK growth
Irish hotel operator Dalata Hotel Group expects its growing UK business to match its Dublin operation by number of rooms by the end of 2022.
The company, which has 16 hotels in and around Dublin, said in a results announcement that it is building “a strong track record” in the UK, where it operates 11 hotels.
“We expect our existing pipeline to open within the timelines advised and our UK business is expected to have a similar number of rooms as our Dublin business by the end of 2022,” the company said.

During 2019, revenue at Dalata rose by 9.3% year-on-year to €429m (£359m), while profit was up by 2.7% at €89.7m. The average room rate rose but occupancy levels dropped slightly from 83.7% in 2018 to 82.6%.
The company said its hotels in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff and Belfast all outperformed their city markets in terms of revenue per available room. Its London hotels “were behind the city as a whole but performed well within their own local markets”, it added.
