Apleona invests in green tech

Property management company Apleona has acquired a stake in green technology company Recogizer to reduce energy use and carbon emissions in buildings. Recognizer has created an AI system, creating digital twin replicas of assets and their infrastructure in order to automate and control the amount of energy used by the building, as well as its carbon emissions. The technology is claimed to reduce energy use by between 20% and 30%. Apleona chief executive Jochen Keysberg said: “We can now offer our industrial and real estate customers significant energy and CO2 optimisations for their existing buildings, which are comparatively quick and easy to implement with short payback periods.” Last month, UK Green Buildings Council reported that property needs to reduce energy demand in office buildings by 60% if it is to help the UK government hit its net zero carbon targets by 2050. According to the research, by 2035 offices aiming to be net zero “should be operating at the energy performance standards that will be needed by 2050”.
