11 Peel L&P schemes certified net-zero carbon

Peel L&P has achieved net-zero carbon status on 11 of its schemes across Liverpool and Greater Manchester. The developer claims it is the first company to achieve this status across the UK. Whole buildings that have been verified as having a net-zero carbon status are: The Venus, TraffordCity The Vic, MediaCityUK The Alex, MediaCityUK Quay West, MediaCityUK Digital World Centre, MediaCityUK 16 Robertson Street, Glasgow Peel L&P’s head office at the intu Trafford Centre has also been certified as net-zero carbon, while as a landlord it has achieved this status on Princes Dock, Liverpool Waters Nos.8 (pictured), 10, 12 and the Princes Dock multi-storey car park. The buildings will help Greater Manchester meet its aim to become carbon neutral by 2038, according to Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham. He said: “Peel L&P has shown that those deep cuts are not only possible, they’re also good for business. The message to others now is pretty clear: no excuses, if Peel L&P can pull this off, then so can you.” Peel L&P sustainability director Jo Holden said: “The region has set itself ambitious targets for achieving carbon neutrality and we want to demonstrate how we are playing our part by taking action to mitigate climate change. “We will reassess these properties annually, talk to our tenants about their role in reducing carbon emissions and look to increase the number of net-zero carbon buildings in our portfolio.” To send feedback, e-mail lucy.alderson@egi.co.uk or tweet @LucyAJourno or @estatesgazette
