Batters, currently a partner at chartered accountant Baker Tilly Pitcher Partners, is based in Amsterdam. He will be responsible for Cromwell’s corporate finance operations across Europe.
He has spent more than 20 years in commercial finance and property, principally as a senior audit executive with Ernst & Young’s UK business.
During his time at EY he worked with companies including Investec, National Australia Bank (including Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks), Royal Bank of Scotland, ING Lease, Siemens Financial Services and Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 2004 to 2011, as well as a stint at ABN AMRO.
Michael Wilde, chief financial officer of Cromwell, said Batters is “extremely familiar with the group’s finances and operations, having worked alongside Cromwell since 2013 when he became the lead engagement partner on the group audit”.
Mark McLaughlin, managing director Europe at Cromwell, said: “[Batters] joins at an exciting time for the European business following several acquisitions on behalf of a range of capital partners across Italy, France and Poland, as well as the refinancing of €625 million of unsecured debt for CEREIT.”
